Education
High school diploma or equivalent prefe! rred.
Licenses/Certifications
Valid certification as a CMA in the state of employment.
Valid certification as a CNA in the state of employment.
Experience
One year of nursing assistant experience, including administering medications in a long term care environment preferred.
Summary
Under supervision, administers prescribed medications to residents and performs other nursing assistant responsibilities in accordance with established nursing standards, policies and procedures of the facility and the requirements of the state.

Essential Functions
Puts customer service first: Ensures that customers and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmos! phere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights.
Checks all first doses against physician order sheet; does not administer medication based on verbal order of nurse.
Participates in the completion of treatments of customers as directed by a licensed nurse.
Cleans medication treatment carts and medicine room, stocks medicine room.
Performs Certified Nursing Assistant Duties as needed.
Maintains medication supply, assists with ordering of new medications, reorders existing medication and restocks medicine carts as needed.
Maintains current knowledge base regarding any medication he/she administers. Investigates/ looks up unknown medications before administration.
Checks all first doses against physician order sheet; does not administer medication based on verbal order of nurse.
Participates in the completion of treatments of residents as directed by a licensed nurse.
Verifies identity of resident receiving mediation and records nam! e of drug, dosage and time of administration on specified forms or reco! rds.
Presents medication to resident and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication, using specified procedures.
Takes vital signs or observes resident to detect response to specified types of medications and prepares report or notifies designated personnel or unexpected reactions.
Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered.
Gives direct patient care, such as bathing, dressing and feeding residents, and assisting in examinations and treatments.
Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, and food and fluid intake and output, as directed.
Maintains order and cleanliness of assigned work area. Washes and sterilizes medical supplies and equipment.
Answers signal lights, bells or intercom system to determine resident needs.
Performs other tasks as assigned.
Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the Company's Code of Business Conduct, its p! olicies and procedures, the Corporate Compliance Agreement, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standards.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations.
Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members, and facility staff.
Knowledge of medications, side effects and adverse reactions related to medication and techniques of administering medications and treatments.
Ability to administer medications.
Ability to maintain accurate records for medical charts and reports.
