The medical assistant is responsible for ensuring the safety and well being of the patients of the practice by using professional skills and judgment. Under the direction and supervision of the provider, the medical assistant is responsible for assisting with total patient care by performing clinical duties, responding to patient telephone inquiries, and coordinating care at the facility as well as at outside facilities. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position. In addition, the incumbent conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of Mercy Hospital.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of an approved medical assisting program, certification preferred OR current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Maine. Healthcare Provider/Professional Rescuer certification (or attained within 30 days of hire) is preferred. Prior experience in a physician’s office or ambulatory setting preferred. In addition, the incumbent will have knowledge of medical terminology and will be computer literate. Must possess strong interpersonal skills, clear communication, ability to understand specific instructions and ability to organize and accomplish multiple tasks and have the flexibility to meet changing demands on a daily basis. The incumbent must have ability to make decisions regarding priority of work and maintain a professional manner under stressful situations.
