We are hiring for these openings:
DISTRICT
- Human Resources Specialist: The purpose of the Human Resources Specialist position within the HR Department of the Portland Public Schools and under the direction of the Assistant HR Director is to manage and perform the duties associated with the employment hiring processes, new employee orientation and on-boarding. Occasionally the incumbent provides support to other areas of HR such as compensation and benefits. The general purpose of the position is recruitment and special projects as assigned by the HR Director or Assistant HR Director in the area of employment.
- Substitute Teachers: Substitute teachers are needed throughout the district at all levels, especially in Functional Life Skills, Special Education, English Lang! uage Learners (ELL), and World Language (Spanish and French). ! A minimum of 2 years of college experience required.
- Substitute Nurses: Substitute school nurse will provide nurse coverage at any one of Portland Public schools. Responsibilities include assessment and treatment for injury and illness, medication administration, and various medical services depending on school.
- Academic Coach - Math
- Education Technician III - Library Media: Seeking a highly qualified Educational Technician III to work cooperatively with the librarian to administer library services to students and staff. The ideal candidate will help with technology and research needs, comfortably manage large groups of students, and assist with the maintenance of the online and print materials. Precision, flexibility, technology troubleshooting, and a strong literacy background are essential for this position.
- Winter Cheering Coach - Girls Ice Hockey Coach
- Classroom ! Teacher - Kindergarten: Seeking an experienced elementary teacher with a strong literacy and math background. Candidates should have interest in working in a highly collaborative, dynamic environment, and should possess a desire to be involved in school improvement turnaround initiatives. Maine State teaching certification (020) with highly qualified status is required.
- Long-term Substitute Teacher - Special Education: Seeking a Long-term substitute SPED Teacher to provide specially-designed instruction to students on Individual Education Plans and to consult with general education teachers on a regular basis regarding student’s educational needs, accommodations and modifications. This assignment will end in December 2013. Maine certification (282) with highly qualified status is required.
