In this role, you will be responsible for directing the OR, ASU and PACU as well as collaborating with a wide range of hospital personnel to meet the diverse and continually changing challenges of the health care environment. The Nurse Director must be a creative, autonomous, future-oriented, risk-taking entrepreneur who applies nursing expertise, critical thinking, and effective leadership and management skills to ensure that quality care is provided through satisfied and inspired professionals.
Requirements: â¢Bachelor of Science ! in Nursing (Masters preferred)â¢Clinical expertise in direct ! patient care as normally acquired through five years of staff nurse/nurse manager experience.â¢The ability to integrate teaching principles and counseling techniques in directing the growth of the unit staff.â¢High level of critical thinking and analytical skills to make management decisions at unit level and recommendations on departmental issues.â¢Strong organization skills, effective time management and delegation strategies that include the ability to rapidly prioritize and adjust work flow according to changing unit needs.â¢Effective interpersonal and management skills along with knowledge of employee relation laws, to deal with complex management problems and communicate with unit personnel, physicians, administrative personnel, other hospital personnel, and people in the community.â¢Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maine is required; AORN or CNOR certification is strongly preferred.Portland, Maine, home to 250,000 people in the m! etro area, is a lovely and diverse New England coastal city offering an historic waterfront area, multi-season recreational opportunities and a wealth of cultural activities.
