The Psychiatric Technician is a non-clinical team membe! r who assists with patient care for the personal needs and comfort and helps maintain an age appropriate therapeutic environment. Will work under the supervision of a nurse and will be a part of a team that includes nurses, doctors, and clinicians. Supports the standards and policies of Acadia Hospital and the philosophy of the nursing department. Must be a High School Graduate or equivalent with good communication skills. Experience and/or education in Mental Health is preferred but not required. BLS is required for this position an is offered during orientation.
Psychiatric Technician I: is an integral part of the inter-disciplinary team. The Psychiatric Technician I will draw upon knowledge and skills to respond to current milieu and individualized patient needs. He/she will collaborate with the rest of the team to tailor interventions to meet individualized patient care needs. This individual will have one of the following: 1) Five years related experience an! d a CNA or equivalent degree or certification such as Medical ! Assistance; or 2) Ten years related experience. Qualified applicant must be a High School Graduate with good communication skills. Must have one of the following: 1) Five years related experience and a CNA or equivalent degree or certification such as Medical Assistance; or 2) Ten years related experience. Must have a willingness and ability to function as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
Psychiatric Technician II: provides care for psychiatric clients and is an integral part of the interdisciplinary team. Based upon their education and experience, this individual is fully aware of the on-going needs of clients and can tailor interventions to meet the plan of care. This individual is self-directed, motivated and needs minimal supervision to carry out his / her daily assignment. The Psychiatric Technician II is a leader for others and uses their knowledge base and experience to provide learning experiences for the Psychiatric Technician and the Ps! ychiatric Technician I . There is an expectation that you may be assigned to a work in the role of a Preceptor, educating new employees and providing appropriate support as necessary.
Qualified applicant must be a High School Graduate with good communication skills. The Psychiatric Technician II will have two years of experience in mental health and one of the following: 1) Completed or in process of gaining Maine Certification or Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician Certification, 2) Currently has or is in process of any related B.S. degree and/or process of Associate degree in Nursing or related Associate degree and eligible for transfer into Care Coordinator or Substance Abuse Counselor position. Must show evidence of continuing education each semester if enrolled in a degree program. Must have a willingness and ability to function as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
